About the Company
PJL Group is a specialised Underground Hard Rock Turnkey Maintenance and Asset Supply Company seeking experienced Heavy Diesel Underground Fitters to support upcoming underground mining operations at the Dolphin Tungsten Mine, located near Grassy on the southeast coast of King Island, Tasmania.
The Dolphin Tungsten Mine is being sustainably redeveloped, and PJL will be responsible for the supply and 24/7 maintenance of the underground mining fleet from dedicated workshop facilities onsite. The fleet will primarily be a combination of Sandvik, Caterpillar and Volvo underground equipment.
About the Role
You will be responsible for maintaining, servicing, and fault‐finding on a range of underground mobile mining equipment to ensure maximum equipment availability and reliability.
Key responsibilities include:
* Mechanical fault finding and actively participating in performance improvement initiatives
* Auto electrical fault finding and diagnostics
* Conducting fault diagnosis on underground mobile equipment and vehicles
* Maintenance and repairs on CAT Underground Loaders series
* Maintenance and fault finding on Sandvik Drill Rigs DD422i and DD421
* Maintenance and troubleshooting of RCT remote control systems
* Using CAT ET for advanced diagnostics and fault finding
* Servicing and maintaining ancillary equipment including Jacon, Normet, and Volvo L120
* Completing scheduled servicing and preventative maintenance tasks
* Working safely and effectively within underground mining environments
About You
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
* Trade qualification in Heavy Diesel or Mobile Plant.
* Previous underground mining experience (highly desirable).
* Strong mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical fault‐finding skills.
* Experience working on Sandvik, CAT, Volvo, or similar underground equipment.
* Unrestricted C Class Manual Drivers Licence.
* Strong verbal communication skills and professional work ethic.
* Ability to work independently and within a high‐performing team.
* Commitment to safety, statutory compliance, and company safety standards.
* Ability to work in confined spaces, at heights.
* Ability to pass pre‐employment medicals and drug & alcohol screening.
