The Role -
We are currently working with an industry-leading renewable energy organisation who are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead its technical services team in the development, construction, and operation of utility-scale projects across Australia. The role offers the opportunity to drive projects across solar, wind, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and emerging technologies like hydrogen.
Key Responsibilities -
- Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a high-performing team of project engineers. Build a collaborative, high-output culture focused on project excellence and continuous improvement.
- Project Delivery: Oversee all technical aspects of projects through their lifecycle – from site identification to commissioning. Ensure quality and efficiency in design, engineering, and construction practices.
- Design & Technical Oversight: Lead technical design reviews; prepare and manage specifications for RFQs, EPCs, and O&M contracts. Ensure adherence to industry standards and optimal risk allocation.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with internal and external stakeholders including consultants, contractors, equipment suppliers, and network providers to ensure project success.
- Innovation & Market Awareness: Stay abreast of emerging technologies and market developments. Assess how innovations could enhance project outcomes.
- Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure designs comply with planning approvals and regulations. Lead risk assessment and mitigation strategies during project development and delivery.
- Business Development Support: Provide technical evaluation for new sites and acquisitions. Contribute to strategic growth planning with key technical insights.
What we are looking for -
- Experience: 5–10+ years in project or electrical engineering within the renewable energy sector, including site experience and leadership roles.
- Technical Expertise: Strong background in electrical design, plant estimation (solar, wind, BESS), SLDs, SCADA, protection systems, AutoCAD, energy yield and GIS software.
- Soft Skills: Exceptional leadership, time management, analytical thinking, and interpersonal skills. Ability to navigate complex challenges and influence across multiple stakeholders.
- Education: Degree in Electrical Engineering (or similar).
