The Opportunity
Our client is a large, globally integrated agribusiness operating across major production and consumption markets worldwide. Following a recent global integration, the organisation now operates at significant scale, with an expanded international footprint and a highly sophisticated trading and risk environment.
This newly created Senior Credit Analyst position is a standalone role based in Melbourne, responsible for independently assessing, approving and monitoring counterparty credit risk across the Australian business. You will operate as the local credit risk subject matter expert, partnering closely with commercial, trading and global risk stakeholders.
The role sits within a global enterprise risk framework, offering exposure to high-value counterparties, complex trading structures and material credit risk decision-making.
The Challenge
Reporting to the Credit Manager APAC, your responsibilities will include:
* Independent credit assessment and approval of counterparties including customers, suppliers, growers and warehouses
* Approving credit and trading limits within delegated authority, and preparing submissions for escalation where required
* Conducting annual counterparty reviews and ongoing credit monitoring
* Identifying and implementing risk mitigation strategies for higher-risk exposures
* Monitoring counterparty exposures, limit breaches, overdue balances and contract execution risk
* Producing and enhancing weekly and monthly credit exposure reporting (AR, open contracts, MTM, warehouse exposure)
* Partnering with commercial and trading teams to support business growth while maintaining robust credit discipline
* Monitoring default risk indicators and external market intelligence
* Maintaining credit limits, databases and master data within SAP
The Expertise

* Strong background in credit risk, ideally within commodity trading, agribusiness, banking or insurance
* Experience operating in a senior or standalone credit role with delegated authority
* Proven ability to assess complex counterparties and high-value trading exposures
* Advanced Excel capability and strong analytical skillset
* Experience working with SAP or large ERP environments
* Confident communicator, able to partner effectively with commercial and trading stakeholders
* Tertiary qualification in accounting, finance, economics or a related discipline
