Casual hourly rates start at $37.05 for Pool Assistants and $41.99 for Pool Lifeguards. Shire housing is not provided with this position.

The Shire of Ashburton is now accepting applications for our initial intake of Pool Lifeguards and Pool Assistants for the upcoming 2026/2027 Pool Season. Don't miss this opportunity to join our team!
Do you have a Provide First Aid Certificate and a Bronze Medallion?
* We will provide you with Lifeguard training and you will be qualified as a Pool Lifeguard on successful completion of this*
Only have a Provide First Aid Certificate?
* You can join us as a Pool Assistant, and we will provide you with training to obtain your Bronze Medallion*.
*To be eligible for this training through the Shire of Ashburton, you must be available to attend the course(s) on the dates offered to you.
Don't have a Provide First Aid Certificate?
* Provide First Aid is a compulsory prerequisite for all our swimming pool-based positions. We do, however, continue to recruit as needed throughout the pool season, so we encourage you to obtain your First Aid qualification and then apply.
