Job Description
This niche Building Services Engineering Consultancy is focused on supporting large Commercial Real Estate owners with the decarbonisation of their building portfolios.
The company's services include: surveying established property assets, conducting energy surveys and audits, providing technical advice on decarbonising buildings, developing conceptual and detailed MEP designs, and project managing subsequent M&E building services upgrades.
Due to growth, the company is seeking a hands-on Building Services Design Manager (MEP) to lead from the front while managing a small team of MEP Design Engineers.
Reporting to the Managing Director, you will be based in an office in Euston and on client sites.
Although you will manage a team, this role also involves hands-on engineering responsibilities.
Your duties will include, but are not limited to:
* Managing the P&L for the Building Services Design business alongside the MD
* Leading a team of M&E Building Services Design Engineers, supervising their project activities
* Liaising with client stakeholders to develop bespoke solutions
* Developing commercially sound client proposals in partnership with the Managing Director & Operations Director
* Creating project, resource, and budget plans with the PMO team
* Prioritising projects and resources to meet deadlines
* Conducting detailed surveys of buildings to identify energy efficiency opportunities
* Preparing energy audit/review reports and recommendations
* Performing building analysis using simulation software
* Developing conceptual and detailed Mechanical Services designs
* Creating decarbonisation plans for existing buildings
* Preparing GHG emissions reports
* Performing feasibility studies for renewable power and heat
* Developing financial models for building services upgrade projects
* Overseeing building services upgrade and refurbishment projects with the PMO team
* Delivering ESOS assessments (training provided)
* Conducting Non-Domestic EPCs up to Level 5 (training provided)
The role requires a candidate who demonstrates strong leadership skills, MEP design capability, a strong work ethic, and a passion for decarbonising the built environment.
The position offers exposure to all areas of Net Zero planning in real estate and is both challenging and rewarding.
The ideal candidate will have a Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or a similar field.
They should demonstrate experience in developing mechanical building services designs and conducting surveys of Mechanical & Electrical Building services.
Strong commercial acumen and experience managing an M&E design team are essential.
Proficiency in AutoCAD and competence in using IESVE building modelling software are required.
In return, the candidate will receive a salary ranging from £90k-£120k (DOE), along with 25 days of annual leave and pension benefits.
