6 weeks annual leave Gifted leave for Xmas closure Salary packaging and competitive remuneration Flexible environment to support work-life balance Your Impact As Managing Solicitor, you will be responsible for the day-to-day supervision of legal teams in the practice areas of General Legal Service and Tenancy Advice Service.
Specifically, you will: Manage, supervise, mentor and support a team of lawyers and paralegals to provide expert legal advice and casework, predominantly relating to general civil and tenancy matters Foster a positive and collaborative team culture including training and professional development Develop and maintain strong stakeholder relationships locally and across the Northern Territory (NT) Assist and contribute to the planning, delivery and evaluation of legal services including community legal education and law reform submissions Undertake limited legal casework on more complex matters Support and provide back up to the Principal Lawyer when required What you bring You are a senior lawyer who is committed to social justice with relevant experience working in the legal assistance sector or in a law firm.
Your style is naturally empathetic, and you can communicate information in a sensitive manner when dealing with diverse clients who have disabilities and/or complex needs, including people from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
This role would suit an experienced and nurturing people leader or someone who is ready to take the next step up into a leadership role who ideally has experience in civil law.
You also have: An unrestricted practicing certificate in Northern Territory or are willing to obtain one An understanding of legal advocacy and awareness of issues relating to social justice and reform in the NT Experience in supervising and mentoring legal practitioners Highly effective stakeholder engagement and relationship building skills; an ability to build trust and collaboration with a cross section of the community and sector partners Excellent strategic and analytical skills with the ability of providing expert advice A current driver's licence and a Northern Territory Ochre Card (or willing to obtain one) If you are passionate about human rights and championing fairness and justice for all then apply now by submitting your resume and cover letter.
