The Budget and Financial Management Branch is looking for talented and motivated candidates to fill Assistant Director vacancies across the branch, in particular in the Costings teams and the Business Activity Reporting and Analytics (BARA) team.
An Assistant Director leads a small team of analysts to produce high quality and accurate costings to support the Agency in delivering its outcomes. They exercise strong leadership and high-level judgment, to support their team in the interpretation of policy and application of costing practices and processes.
An Assistant Director in the costings function undertakes independent assessments and makes evidence-based decisions to provide strategic advice on cost estimates and Cabinet Submissions. They also support with leading process reform, simplification and improvement of the Agency's costings methodology, work practices and costing system.
There is an additional vacancy in the Costings team for a position responsible for leading the activity-based pricing methodology and estimates for the Agency's corporate and ICT shared services offerings. This includes annual updates to existing services and partnering with business areas to price new shared service offerings. In this role, the successful candidate would assist to identify and deliver reform activities underway to update the existing activity-based costing model and associated technology and process. For the Costings teams roles, high-level coordination, effective stakeholder management skills and the ability to coach, supervise and provide strategic direction to staff in the context of competing priorities within tight deadlines is essential.
There is an additional vacancy available in the BARA team. This role includes identifying activity-based costs associated with the Agency's operations and undertaking complex research into new and changed business processes and the supporting IT systems. The BARA team provides the underpinning data and analysis to support the key deliverables of the Branch and other stakeholders including the Agency's funding model, financial benefit tracking and reporting, channel usage, costings, capacity and demand modelling, customer claiming and contact trend analysis and more.
Qualifications:
Whilst a Tertiary Qualifications is desirable, a Bachelors degree in Commerce, ICT, Actuarial Economics, or an accounting related discipline that would support developing costings. CPA / CA or working towards will be highly regarded.
