Your opportunity:
Our Digital & Information group have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Digital Portfolio Delivery Planning and Performance Lead to join our Digital Programs team.
Digital & Information is responsible for digitally enabling Urban Utilities today and digitally transforming future capability to enable provision of digital services to our customers, community and people. The group is accountable to formulate and execute Urban Utilities’ digital & data strategy, deliver Urban Utilities digital portfolio and provide day-to-day operations of information technology (IT), operating technology (OT), data, and the Internet of Things (IOT), including security, infrastructure management, system administration, network operations, and support services.
Reporting to the Digital Portfolio Manager, the Digital Portfolio Delivery Planning and Performance Lead will be responsible for overseeing prioritisation, planning, sequencing, and performance monitoring of projects within the Digital (ICT) Portfolio. This role ensures delivery plans are realistic, coordinated, and aligned with capacity, dependencies, and business needs — enabling successful execution and transparent reporting to leadership.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the development and maintenance of the consolidated delivery plan for the digital portfolio, including timelines, dependencies, milestones, and resource requirements.
* Coordinate detailed project sequencing, ensuring alignment with organisational priorities, business readiness, and technical constraints.
* Identify and manage cross-initiative dependencies and impacts to minimise delivery risk.
* Oversee capacity planning and support resource allocation across concurrent projects.
* Develop and maintain portfolio-level performance dashboards, tracking delivery progress, milestone achievement, and overall health.
* Provide regular delivery performance reporting and insights to senior leadership teams and governance forums.
* Monitor risks and issues to ensure portfolio performance is maintained at optimal levels, supporting proactive escalation and resolution.
* Support benefits realisation tracking to ensure that delivered solutions achieve intended outcomes.
* Drive continuous improvement of delivery planning and performance monitoring processes, tools, and templates.
About you:
* Tertiary qualification in ICT, project management, or a related field (preferred).
* Certifications such as PRINCE2, PMP, or Agile methodologies (desirable).
* Strong experience in delivery planning and integrated scheduling within large ICT or digital portfolios.
* Excellent understanding of capacity planning, resource allocation, and delivery governance at a portfolio level.
* Proven experience developing and maintaining portfolio delivery dashboards and performance metrics.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on providing actionable insights.
* Excellent communication and presentation skills.
* Familiarity with portfolio management and delivery tracking tools (e.g., MS Project, Jira, Power BI).
Performance of ‘on call’ duties are an inherent requirement of this role. This requires that the employee must be available to be on-call and to attend to work matters, both in person and remotely, outside of normal working hours, including evenings, weekends and public holidays, as reasonably required to fulfill the requirements of the position. The days, times, duration and frequency of on call arrangements may be subject to change, including at short notice, as required by Urban Utilities’ operational needs as applying from time to time. At all times whilst on-call, you must be fit for duty, contactable, and able to respond, including the ability to physically attend if required, to the operational needs of the business within a reasonable timeframe and in a safe manner.
