We are looking for a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team, this role will play a key part in the design, development, and ongoing improvement of our heavy-duty mining and industrial equipment.

Job Description

As a Mechanical Engineer you will be involved in planning, designing, organising and overseeing the assembly, erection, operation and maintenance of our mechanical and process plant and installations. You will work closely with production, fabrication, and management teams to ensure engineering solutions are efficient, compliant, and aligned with project requirements.

This is a hands-on role suited to an engineer with strong experience in heavy manufacturing, structural steel, and mining or industrial equipment.

Key Responsibilities

* Design and develop mechanical components, assemblies, and systems for heavy-duty mining and industrial equipment, including dump truck bodies and related machinery.
* Prepare and review engineering drawings, technical specifications, and documentation to support fabrication and production.
* Analyse operational data, materials, and manufacturing processes to optimise efficiency, durability, and cost-effectiveness.
* Oversee and support the construction, assembly, installation, and commissioning of mechanical equipment and systems.
* Establish engineering standards, quality control procedures, testing methods, and maintenance requirements in line with Australian standards and safety regulations.
* Liaise with production and fabrication teams to resolve technical issues and ensure designs are manufactured accurately and safely.
* Inspect plant, equipment, and systems to ensure optimal performance and ongoing compliance with design and safety requirements.
* Support continuous improvement initiatives across design, manufacturing, and maintenance processes.
* Maintain a strong commitment to workplace health and safety (WHS) and ensure all engineering activities comply with company and regulatory requirements.

Skills Required

* Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, particularly in relation to heavy-duty equipment and fabrication.
* Experience designing mechanical components and systems for manufacturing and industrial/mining applications.
* Ability to interpret, prepare, and review detailed engineering drawings and technical specifications.
* Familiarity with materials selection, structural components, and manufacturing processes such as welding and fabrication.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a practical, solutions-focused approach.
* Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams in a production environment.

Requirements

* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
* Minimum of 3 years' post-qualification experience in a mechanical engineering role, preferably within mining, manufacturing, or heavy industry.
* Experience in managing or supporting projects from design through to production and commissioning.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding industrial environment.
