Barnardos Australia is seeking a dedicated Aboriginal Tutor to join our Yalmambirra Learning Centre in Wellington, 2820. This is a part time, 12month contract opportunity to be part of a values-led organisation committed to making a real difference in the lives of children and families.
We are looking for a vibrant dedicated Aboriginal tutor to work in our Yalmambirra Learning centre. You will deliver activities to primary aged 5-12 years to school children using a strength-based person-centered trauma informed approach during each school term. This is a part time role 12hrs a week (Monday to Thursday 2.30pm to 5.30 pm). Yalmambirra Learning Centre operates on a school-term schedule.
You'll join a collaborative and supportive team delivering high-quality, trauma-informed services that uphold child safety, cultural safety, and family-led practice.
Skills and Experience :
* Commitment to improving educational outcomes for children and young people.
* Ability to contribute positively to a team culture grounded in safety, respect and consistency, while using initiative and working independently when required.
* Understanding of learning barriers experienced by children and young people.
* Current WWCC clearance.
* Current driver's license.
* Demonstrated ability to work respectfully and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, families, and communities, including a strong understanding of cultural safety, self-determination, and the historical and contemporary factors that impact Aboriginal peoples.
This is an identified position, and applicants must be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent. This is a genuine occupational qualification as authorised under Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW)

Base salary: $36.12 per hour + 12% superannuation
Salary packaging: Up to $15,860 tax-free (general living expenses)
Meal & entertainment packaging: Additional $2,650 tax-free per FBT year
