Discovery Lansdowne is located in the heart of Katherine, NT—one of Australia's most spectacular outback destinations. Our Workstay Village is a thriving, high-energy property that provides accommodation and catering to large numbers of work-stay guests year-round.
The Role
As the Chef, you will be responsible for providing an efficient and cost-effective food service, with the smooth day-to-day operation of a commercial kitchen.
* Food preparation and presentation
* Adhere to all HSE policies, procedures & safe food handling practices.
* Adherence to dietary requirements (allergies, special requests)
* Management of stock ordering, rotation and stocktaking
* Maintaining a clean kitchen, equipment and utensils
* Create dishes of high quality that will nourish and delight our guests.
* Fast, effective service provided with a smile
* Assist in overseeing all kitchen employees, including training and performance development.
About You
In order to be successful in this role you will need:
* Previous Chef experience and cooking in a similar environment
* Formal trade qualifications in commercial cooking or equivalent experience
* Proven experience in electronic purchase ordering and cost management
* Proven experience in planning and developing menus
* Proven ability to work within a team and autonomously
* Ability to prep and organise ahead
* Current First Aid Certificate is highly desirable
* HACCP experience essential, with a high emphasis on food hygiene
* Current drivers license.
