An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced EL1 Policy Advisor to join a high-profile Australian Government Intelligence Agency. You will be working on the delivery of a nationally significant Program which aims to improve information sharing capability in partnership with Commonwealth, State and Territory agencies.
The program supports community safety outcomes by enabling secure, timely and cross-border access to critical information for law enforcement and intelligence users. The capability connects data held by multiple agencies and provides a national view of information to support the prevention and disruption of serious and complex criminal activity.
Your new role
As an EL1 Policy Advisor, you will be responsible for delivering high quality policy research, analysis and advice to support program objectives and inform senior decision making. You will contribute to national information sharing policy processes and provide advice across a range of operational, policy and administrative matters.
This role requires strong stakeholder engagement skills, with regular interaction across Commonwealth, State and Territory environments to support policy development, alignment and potential law reform.
Key responsibilities
* Undertake research and policy analysis to support program deliverables and initiatives
* Review and assess policy options, preparing concise and evidence based advice for senior leadership
* Contribute to national information sharing policy development and related reform activities
* Provide policy, operational and administrative advice to support program delivery
* Engage with stakeholders across jurisdictions to support policy coordination and implementation
* Assist with the development of policy frameworks, guidance and documentation
What you'll need to succeed
This position requires a NV1 clearance minimum, there will also be a requirement to work in the office (North side of Canberra) full time.
* Demonstrated experience working at an EL1 or equivalent level in a policy or advisory role
* Strong analytical capability, with experience researching complex issues and developing practical policy advice
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Proven ability to build and maintain relationships across government and with external stakeholders
* Experience working in information sharing, law enforcement, security or regulatory environments will be highly regarded
