**Position Overview** 
This position is responsible for delivering operational compliance and efficient payroll processes to the 
organisation in accordance with the Local Government Act 1999, relevant industrial instruments, regulations and 
Council's policies and processes. The Payroll officer is responsible for providing customer focused and efficient 
service to all employees regarding payroll matters as well as supporting the Organisational Culture and People 
(OCP) team more broadly to achieve Directorate and organisational goals and objectives.
**Key Responsibilities** 
**Payroll and Administration** 
- Provide end to end payroll support to the organisation to ensure efficient, effective and correct pay and
administration; provide high-quality customer service to all employees, teams and departments. 
- Accurately carry out all aspects of payroll data entry, reconciliation, tax, superannuation, Income
Protection Insurance and Return To Work obligations from a payroll perspective in accordance with 
regulations, policies and processes relevant to this position. 
- Maintain integrity of Payroll System at all times, by ensuring that is up to date and that appropriate
approvals have been received for any changes in line with Council's policies and processes. 
- Ensure accurate input of all payroll adjustments including entitlements, annual salary increments, taxation
updates, back pay, payroll codes in accordance with guidelines and processes. 
- Undertake payroll transactions including accruals, payroll posting, on-cost posting, payroll journal
adjustments, timesheet posting, checking general ledger account balances, leave balance reports, 
deductions reports, and processing of journals as required in line with Council processes and policy. 
- First point of contact for staff regarding payroll queries and administration required to deliver timely and
accurate advice and support as required. 
- Carry out various reporting and deductions tasks including superannuation reporting, LSL reports, ATO
requirements, end of year processing, payment summaries and payment transfers as required. 
- Prepare PAYG Tax payment and reporting requirements for ATO including payroll Master file Audit report. 
- Monitor, maintain and effectively triage the payroll inbox, ensuring work is completed in a timely manner 
- and within applicable payroll period to meet Organisational Culture and People team outcomes.
