About The Role

As an Operational Governance Manager, you will lead and strengthen the department’s governance arrangements by overseeing key controls, including delegations and authorisations.

Key Responsibilities Include

Maintain and enhance delegations, authorisations, and governance controls, ensuring alignment with legislation, policy, and department-wide strategic governance advice to business units, supporting statutory obligations, decision making, and risk management.Develop and manage governance tools, procedures, registers, and projects, prioritising key areas to strengthen operational effectiveness and oversight.Lead, mentor, a new team while fostering strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including oversight agencies, to integrate governance practices

About You

Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing governance frameworks and controls.Sound knowledge of NSW government governance frameworks and requirements, including delegations and public sector accounting mechanisms.Continuous improvement mindset to drive enhancements in governance capabilityKnowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.

Essential Requirements Of The Role

Tertiary qualifications in Law, Business, Public Administration or a related field and/or demonstrated, equivalent professional experience.Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education. Current and valid Working with Children Check Clearance for paid employment.
