Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Business Director to lead our payroll operations, driving transformation and excellence in this critical function.


About the Role

This is a rare opportunity for a seasoned professional to take ownership of payroll, leading a talented team and playing a pivotal role in delivering accurate, compliant, and efficient services.


Key Responsibilities

* Lead and coach a high-performing payroll team, fostering collaboration and driving results.
* Manage end-to-end payroll operations for a medium-to-large workforce, ensuring seamless execution and continuous improvement.
* Oversee fortnightly cycles, superannuation, PAYG, deductions, and leave entitlements, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
* Drive the transition to in-house payroll, including system optimisation and process redesign, leveraging expertise and best practices.
* Act as a subject matter expert on payroll legislation, awards, and enterprise agreements, providing guidance and support to stakeholders.
* Lead payroll audits, internal controls, and risk mitigation strategies, ensuring the highest standards of governance and integrity.
* Partner with Finance and People teams to support budgeting, forecasting, and workforce planning, promoting alignment and synergy.
* Champion innovation by improving payroll systems and integrating new technology, staying ahead of industry trends and best practices.


Requirements

* 10+ years' experience managing payroll in a medium-to-large organisation, with a proven track record of leadership and service excellence.
* Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, awards, and enterprise agreements, with the ability to apply expertise in a practical context.
* Proven leadership experience, with a track record of team development and coaching, inspiring high-performance teams and driving results.
* Payroll systems expertise and Microsoft Office skills, with the ability to leverage technology to drive efficiency and effectiveness.
* A relevant qualification in HR, Finance, or a related field, demonstrating a strong foundation in business acumen and payroll principles.
