EDMI Gas Pty Ltd, based in Dandenong South, specialises in providing, repairing, and maintaining gas and water measurement equipment. As part of the global EDMI smart metering group, we offer production of and services for industrial and domestic gas meters and support advanced utility solutions.
As the Associate Production Engineer, you will apply engineering techniques to improve gas and water meter manufacturing processes and products. You’ll provide technical support, operational insights, and continuous improvement expertise to help EDMI Gas & Water respond effectively to market demands while maintaining safe, efficient and cost‑effective operations. You will report directly to Senior Production Engineer with a dotted reporting line to the Technical Services, Quality and Risk Manager.

What you will do
Your day will be varied, and you will work closely with the Operations (Dandenong) teams. A typical day could see you:
* Working with a multi- disciplinary team using lean principles to support the introduction of automation and improved production processes.
* Ensuring the continued safe operation and improvement of testing and operations equipment in a production environment.
* Coordinating water meter upgrades and batch testing, including supervision of temporary staff.
* Coordinating the Return Merchandise Authorisation (RMA) process for water meters, liaising with the Stores Coordinator and the Sales Support Coordinator.
* Liaising with product suppliers to identify, investigate, and resolve quality-related issues.
* Supporting the Senior Production Engineer in maintaining equipment verification activities.
* Working with pneumatic and electromechanical controls and devices to design and build equipment in partnership with qualified trade staff.
* Preparing engineering reports, developing CAD drawings and documenting technical processes both visually and in writing, for a Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) audience.
* Supporting laboratory testing operations, ensuring correct machine testing and calibration.
* Auditing engineering related processes.
What you will bring
* Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (recognised in Australia)
* Relevant engineering experience, ideally in a manufacturing or similar environment
* Some experience in high level language programming or PLC’s or HMI’s
* CAD experience
* Experience with sensors and instrument calibration would be highly regarded
* Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills.
* Proven ability to document technical processes for a Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) audience.
* Ability to contribute to the upskilling of operations staff.
* Demonstrated commitment to a safe and productive work environment.
