We're seeking a talented Legal Counsel to join our Energy Solutions & Infrastructure Delivery team in Perth. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in Australia's energy transition and contribute to projects that matter.
About the Role
Reporting to the Managing Senior Legal Counsel, you'll partner with APA's business to provide strategic and pragmatic legal advice across the full project lifecycle—from initiation through construction and operations. Your work will support the development and delivery of energy projects, including renewables, electricity transmision, gas transmission and storage, and GPG, within APA's risk appetite.
Key responsibilities include:
* Drafting, negotiating, and advising on commercial agreements (e.g., term sheets, HOAs/MOUs, gas transportation and storage agreements, connection agreements, network agreements, development agreements, power purchase agreements, electricity supply agreements procurement and construction agreements).
* Managing dispute resolution as required.
* Advising on legislation and other regulations that apply to the activities of APA as required.
* Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to enable successful project delivery.
About You
You are a qualified lawyer with a full practising certificate in an Australian jurisdiction and 3–6 years of post-qualification experience. You bring:
* Strong legal and stakeholder engagement skills with an enterprise mindset.
* A commercial and strategic approach to problem-solving.
* Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with effective time management and prioritisation.
* Experience in dispute resolution and regulatory matters (particularly experience with the National Gas Law, National Electricity Market Rules, and Electricity System and Market Rules (highly regarded).
