We are recruiting experienced High-Intensity Disability Support Workers to join a small, stable core team providing 24/7 in-home supports for a participant with complex, high-acuity needs. This role requires strong clinical awareness, safe manual handling, excellent communication, and consistent documentation.
Key responsibilities
* Personal care including continence support and indwelling catheter care support (as per plan and training)
* Manual handling: hoist transfers, repositioning schedules, pressure care, safe mobility assistance
* Dysphagia/mealtime support: thickened fluids, modified meals, safe feeding support as trained and per plan
* Respiratory supports (as trained and per participant plan):
o suction machine (airway clearance)
o oxygen therapy support
o non-invasive ventilation support (e.g. BiPAP)
* Monitor changes in presentation, particularly respiratory status, and escalate promptly as required
* Maintain high-quality documentation and reporting including:
o fluid intake/output
o meal consumption
o repositioning/pressure care records
o respiratory supports used (e.g. suction/BiPAP/oxygen)
o incidents/concerns and escalation actions
* Support communication needs including alternative/augmentative communication (e.g. eye-gaze device) when required
Essential requirements (must have)
* NDIS Worker Screening Check (or ability to obtain immediately)
* National Police Check
* First Aid Certificate and CPR
* Certificate III or IV in Individual Support (Disability/Ageing/Home & Community) or equivalent relevant qualification
* Demonstrated experience in high-intensity / complex care disability supports (in-home, SIL, hospital discharge, or similar)
* Competency and confidence with:
o hoist transfers/manual handling
o pressure care and positioning
o dysphagia mealtime support (thickened fluids/modified meals)
o high-standard documentation and shift handover
* Strong verbal and written communication and professionalism with family/stakeholders
* Reliability to work a 24/7 rotating roster including overnights
Highly desirable (preferred)
* Experience supporting participants with complex respiratory needs
* Training/experience with:
o suctioning support (as per training and plan)
o oxygen therapy support
o BiPAP/NIV support
* Medication experience within scope (e.g., assistance with medication where authorised and trained)
* Current NT Driver License and reliable transport (if required for shifts)
