Healthcare Australia (HCA) is a major provider of healthcare services across Australia, including allied health, primary care, recruitment, NDIS, care services, and training.
In December 2024, we began providing health, mental health, and wellbeing services across the onshore Immigration Detention network. Our team of nurses, general practitioners, and allied health professionals offer a range of healthcare services, including health assessments, chronic disease management, health promotion, wound management, immunizations, and other primary health interventions. HCA also launched a 24/7 Virtual Care Centre (VCC), offering remote healthcare through telehealth and video consultations to enhance onsite care for detainees
Job Description
In this role you will provide counselling services to a diverse range of clients experiencing a range of concerns, including mental health, addiction, loss and grief, trauma, distress and interpersonal concerns.
Key responsibilities:
* Counselling Services: Provide individual and group counselling addressing a broad spectrum of concerns.
* Psychosocial Assessments: Conduct detailed psychosocial assessments to identify client needs and strengths, developing personalized treatment plans.
* Risk Assessment: Complete comprehensive risk assessments, evaluating factors such as safety, mental health status, and potential for harm.
* Care Coordination: Engage in systems navigation and care coordination, collaborating with external health providers to support clients’ treatment plans.
* Referrals: Identify and refer clients to appropriate community resources and support services, facilitating access to necessary care.
* Crisis Intervention: Offer immediate support and intervention during crisis situations, ensuring the safety and well-being of clients.
* Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records, including assessment results, treatment plans, and progress notes, in compliance with legal and ethical standards.
* Professional Development: Stay informed about current practices, emerging trends, and relevant legislation in the fields of counselling and social work. Engage in ongoing clinical supervision with the HCA Clinical Supervisor.
About you:
* Minimum of 3 years of post-qualification experience in Counselling.
* Previous experience working with addiction and/or dual diagnosis concerns.
* Proficiency in range of therapeutic interventions.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Empathetic, compassionate, and culturally sensitive approach to client interactions.
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Counselling, or a related field.
* Current registration with a relevant industry association (e.g. ACA level 2+, PACFA)
