Southern NSW LHD covers a large area from Goulburn to the Victorian border and surrounds the ACT on three sides, spanning coastal to inland regions. The Goulburn ED serves as a regional referral center for Level 3 and 2 facilities within the Inland Network, with strong academic and training partnerships.
Where you'll be working
:
Goulburn Base Hospital
– approximately 2 hours from Sydney and 1 hour from Canberra. The ED has a Level 4 role delineation, 2 resuscitation beds, 6 acute beds (including 2 isolation rooms), quick-track area, and a 4-bed EDSSU. The department is led by FACEMs, FACRRM and GP VMOs with expertise in Emergency Medicine. The hospital provides extensive support including ICU, Anaesthetics, General Medicine, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Surgery, Paediatrics, Maternity and Rehabilitation Medicine, with Mental Health services on campus.
Education and training
: The hospital has an academic partnership with the ANU Rural Clinical School and a dedicated simulation facility. It is accredited for JMO training, ACRRM and RACGP training, and Goulburn ED is accredited for EM AST with ongoing expansion into EMET and ACEM programs.
What you'll be doing
The GP VMO in the ED provides high-quality, safe clinical care to Emergency Department patients and supports multidisciplinary education and supervision to achieve quality education outcomes and safe clinical practice.
Selection Criteria
:
Evidence of Medical Qualification and AHPRA registration. Significant senior experience in Emergency Medicine, including senior/in-charge roster and recency of practice. Minimum 7 years post-graduate experience and 5 years in Emergency Medicine in Australia or equivalent. Evidence of or working towards FRACGP, FACRRM and additional Emergency Medicine qualifications are desirable.
Significant senior Emergency Medicine experience with competence in trauma and emergency scenarios pertinent to Australian rural hospital practice.
Demonstrated effective clinical communication, IT literacy, and written/verbal/interpersonal skills.
Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team, with leadership capabilities.
Commitment to patient safety and clinical governance.
Commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and to continuing self-education, research and quality improvement.
Commitment to NSW Health CORE values and SNSWLHD values, goals and strategies.
Commitment to participate in an equitable medical roster, including evenings, nights and weekends.

: This is a Category A position requiring compliance with NSW Health policy PD2024_015. All new employees must meet OASV requirements, including proof of influenza vaccination where applicable.
