An Metropolitan ACT hospital requires a Registered Nurse in Accident & Emergency from 12/03/2026 to 03/06/2026. Agency Nurse Expectations & Required Skills To ensure safe and effective care, agency nurses must demonstrate: ✅ Digital Health Record (DHR) Competency/EPIC • CHS uses a territory-wide Digital Health Record (DHR) system. • You must be confident navigating electronic documentation, medication charts, clinical notes, and secure messaging. ✅ Resuscitation Skills • Recent (within last 5 years) proficiency in adult and paediatric resuscitation protocols is essential. • Knowledge of ACS, stroke, sepsis, de-escalation and trauma pathways • Required current ALS and PAL/PLS certification. Neonatal advanced life support and ventilation skills desirable. ✅ Triage Competency • Ability to apply the Australasian Triage Scale (ATS) confidently and consistently. Completion of the Emergency Triage Education Kit (ETEK) is desirable. • Adaptability to local policies, procedures and guidelines to ensure triages are consistent. • Understanding of adult and paediatric triage categories and primary survey findings is critical. ✅ Paediatric Emergency Skills • Experience in assessing and managing paediatric presentations including trauma, mental health, and special needs groups. • Familiarity with Broselow resuscitation tools and paediatric medication dosing is beneficial.
