Beacon Legal have partnered with a leading Australian energy business in their search for a new Legal Counsel. They are looking to hire a projects or energy lawyer at the 2-6 PQE level, to be based in their Sydney office.
We're seeking a proactive and motivated projects or energy lawyer to support a dynamic and growing legal team. This role offers the opportunity to work across a range of front-end project development, regulatory and commercial matters in a company that is accelerating Australia's transition.

About the Role
* Advise on legal, compliance and regulatory aspects of energy storage projects across the full project lifecycle from origination, development, financing, construction, delivery and operation.
* Lead and support due diligence and negotiation of project agreements, including MOUs, landowner agreements, equipment supply and EPC contracts, O&M agreements, and power offtake arrangements.
* Provide legal input on governance, policies, and corporate legal work.
* Work closely with commercial and project delivery teams on procurement, contract management and risk.
* Monitor relevant regulatory and legislative changes in the renewables and energy storage space.
* Instruct and manage external legal counsel.
What type of person will be successful?
* Admitted as a lawyer in Australia.
* Practising as a projects, energy or infrastructure lawyer for 2-6 years in private practice or in-house.
* Experience advising on development, construction and financing of large-scale renewables or infrastructure projects would be beneficial but not essential.
* Familiarity with regulatory and risk frameworks in the energy sector.
* Strong drafting, negotiation and contract management skills.
* Collaborative, adaptable and self-motivated, with a commercial mindset.
* Enjoys working in a fast-paced, early-stage environment.
