Geologist | Location: Gold Coast, QLD | Type: Full-time, Permanent Office and field-based position About Us GMEK Pty Ltd delivers specialist geological and geotechnical services to the mining and exploration sectors across Australia.
We’re a collaborative, technically driven team committed to innovation and sustainable resource development. About the Role We are seeking a Geologist with strong technical expertise and field experience to join our team.
In a dynamic consulting environment, you’ll be working across mineral exploration, mining projects, and integrating structural and geotechnical data in advanced 3D modelling. Key responsibilities:
* Exploration field data collection, including mapping, drillhole logging and sampling
* Mine geology support, including grade control and reconciliation, updating working/production models, stockpile management, updating forecasts and plans.
* Engineering geology support, including rock mass mapping and logging, hazard mapping, and radar monitoring.
* Preparing and presenting geological data, including sections, plans, and technical reports.
* Supporting safe operations, and representing GMEK in meetings and industry events.
About You
* to be successful in this role, you will have:
* Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Geology, Economic Geology, or equivalent, along with 3+ years’ applied geological experience in exploration and mining environments.
* This role entails the opportunities to work independently in remote field locations where a Current Class C driver’s licence (QLD or equivalent) is required.
* Proficiency with Vulcan modelling software for geological interpretation, working model updates, and reconciliations for grade control and forecasting.
* Strong GIS plotting and database management skills (QGIS or similar).
* Experience in engineering geological characterisation, in addition to hazard mapping and radar monitoring experience.
* Proficiency with WellCAD borehole imagery analysis software, stereographic plotting, and structural interpretation.
Desirable: UAV piloting & mapping experience, 4WD competency, Standard 11, First Aid/CPR.
