We are looking for a passionate, organised and highly motivated Head Chef to join our team and help us write the next chapter for Salter’s Kitchen – the much-loved restaurant of Saltram Wine Estate, home of Saltram and Pepperjack wines.

The Role

The Head Chef will lead the kitchen and oversee the execution and delivery of the food and dining experience across Salter’s Kitchen restaurant and for events.

The successful applicant/s will:

- Oversee all kitchen operations, including menu planning, food preparation, and presentation.
- Ensure the highest standards of food quality, taste, and presentation.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment.
- Manage, coordinate, and lead the kitchen team through food service
- Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service.
- Adhere to all WH&S; standards.
- Manage stock control, food costings, ordering and wastage
- Foster a positive culture and motivate team members through positive behaviour.
- Create and develop menus for restaurant, functions and events
- Contribute to promotion of the venue including food related social media content
- Communicate effectively with the team and management.

About you

Applicants will:

- Demonstrated experience in a Head Chef or kitchen leadership role
- A passion for food and food service
- Outstanding communication and leadership skills
- Ability and confidence to work in a fast-paced environment, problem solve and address operational issues quickly and effectively
- Strong leadership and team delegation/monitoring skills
- Highly developed planning and execution skills
- Best practice hospitality skills, services, processes and procedures
- Computer literacy – MS office, restaurant management software, POS
