The Armoury Coffee Co. is Ipswich Grammar School’s new on-site coffee shop, established as part of our staff engagement and wellbeing initiatives. Operating Monday - Friday mornings, The Armoury provides high-quality coffee and a relaxed, welcoming space for our staff. The coffee shop will be a valued part of the IGS community, focused on great coffee, friendly service, and a sense of connection.
The Cafe Supervisor will oversee the daily operations of The Armoury coffee shop, ensuring a smooth, professional and welcoming experience for all staff and visitors. With morning-only hours (7.00am – 11.30am), this hands-on role suits a motivated hospitality professional who takes pride in great service and creating a warm, community-focused setting.
The Cafe Supervisor is responsible for:
- Overseeing the day-to-day operations including opening, closing and service delivery
- Preparing and serving high-quality coffee and light food items
- Managing stock, supplier orders and daily cash reconciliation
- Leading, training and supporting a small team of baristas
- Ensuring compliance with food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety standards
The successful candidate may possess:
- Previous experience in specialty coffee or hospitality supervision
- Robust barista skills and a passion for quality coffee
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work autonomously
- Current Food Safety Supervisor certificate (or willingness to obtain)
