abrs is partnering with the Australian Defence Force (ADF) to recruit passionate and qualified mental health professionals to start work in early 2026, for a vital phone-based counselling service based onsite in Brindabella Business Park, Canberra.

The Role:
As a counsellor on this team, you'll be a critical first point of contact for ADF members and their families, offering support for a wide range of mental health and wellbeing concerns.
You'll:
* Deliver telephone-based counselling, crisis support and referral services
* Perform risk assessments and crisis interventions
* Prepare clear, detailed written reports
* Refer callers to the most appropriate services
* Collaborate with a team of experienced professionals through debriefs and knowledge sharing
* Conduct assessments via phone and video (Skype)
You'll Need:
* A degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, Human Services, Allied Health or Nursing with Mental Health experience
* Strong risk assessment and crisis intervention skills
* Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities
* Experience writing professional reports
* Australian Citizenship (due to security clearance requirements)
* Willingness to work rotating full-time shifts (including weekends)
* Be based in ACT or ready to relocate
