Peer Support Specialist - Women's Forensic Team

Under general supervision of the Program Coordinator or Program Manager, the Peer Specialist will be a Certified Peer Specialist. This position is designated for a person who identifies as having a lived experience with mental health recovery and/or recovery from substance use, and is willing to share their personal, practical experience, knowledge, and first-hand insight to benefit the team and its clients.
The Peer Support Specialist will engage individuals with psychiatric disabilities who have had contact with the criminal justice system. Responsibilities include working one-on-one with referrals from mental health courts, probation, forensic liaison, and shelters to provide ongoing supports to help clients avoid incarceration. The role involves engaging clients prior to release from jail to develop reentry plans for a smooth transition back into the community. After release, the specialist will provide personal encouragement and practical assistance.
Services are provided based on Recovery tenets, promoting self-determination and the overall health and well-being of persons served. The position is full-time with a pay rate of $15.50 per hour.

Required Qualifications: Valid peer support certification, valid Ohio driver's license with less than 6 points.
