You will work closely with operational leaders, P&C, Safety, insurers, regulators, and external providers to ensure strong governance, positive employee experiences, and effective risk and cost management.

This is a hands-on, influential role suited to someone who enjoys balancing technical expertise with stakeholder engagement in a complex, multi-site environment.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

* Lead the delivery of effective injury management and return-to-work programs to achieve timely, safe, and sustainable outcomes.
* Provide expert guidance and technical leadership to Return-to-Work Coordinators and injury management stakeholders.
* Act as the primary relationship lead with insurers, third-party administrators, rehabilitation providers, regulators, and legal partners.
* Ensure compliance with workers' compensation legislation, licensing, and self-insurance requirements across state and federal schemes.
* Monitor claims performance, analyse injury and claims data, and identify trends, risks, and preventative opportunities.
* Prepare and present reports, insights, and recommendations to senior leaders and the Executive team.
* Support audits, policy renewals, and governance requirements relating to workers' compensation and injury management.

* Lead, mentor, and develop a small injury management team to build capability and consistency.

About You

You will be well suited to this role if you bring:

* Demonstrated experience in workers' compensation, injury management, and workplace-based rehabilitation.
* Strong working knowledge of the Comcare scheme, with broader exposure to state-based schemes desirable.
* Experience partnering with insurers, rehabilitation providers, medical practitioners, and legal stakeholders.
* The ability to confidently engage with operational leaders and executives on complex and sensitive matters.
* Strong analytical capability, with experience using claims and injury data to drive insights and improvements.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
* A practical, solutions-focused mindset with strong attention to detail.
* Tertiary qualifications in a medical, allied health, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).

Experience in mining, resources, logistics, or similarly complex operational environments will be highly regarded.

Why Join Us?

* A key leadership role with real influence across the business.
* Opportunity to shape and strengthen injury management and workers' compensation practices.
* Exposure to senior leaders and meaningful involvement in governance and decision-making.
* Based at our Tomago Head Office in Newcastle, with some travel to operational sites as required.
* A values-driven organisation committed to Zero Harm, care for our people, and operational excellence.
