Senior Platform Engineer
The Role
Our Senior Platform Engineers build and improve the cloud platform that enables our developers to deliver high quality software for our customers. Our team is expanding and we need talented engineers who are looking for a challenging environment with opportunities to share your knowledge and develop new skills. We combine the latest technologies and techniques to create a platform that runs critical workloads for both internal systems and our customers.
Your New Team
After joining A&G you will operate in one of our squads that work within the larger Cloud Platform team. Each squad works to deliver on their unique missions designing, building and implementing platform improvements while maintaining our tools and services.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the design, development, and maintenance of complex Terraform modules and configurations. Drive automation and standardisation across cloud environments.
Collaborate with application teams to build solutions to accelerate delivery.
Development and ongoing management of build and deployment pipelines. Drive continuous improvement in deployment velocity and reliability.
Kubernetes cluster management, including advanced cluster provisioning, networking, security hardening, performance optimisation, and strategic upgrade planning.
Lead incident response efforts for critical cloud infrastructure issues, conducting post incident reviews.
Drive the adoption of innovative solutions and continuously elevate team standards and technical capabilities.
Qualifications & Experience
Extensive hands-on experience with a broad range of AWS cloud services in an enterprise environment, including advanced networking, security and compute.
In depth understanding of Kubernetes architecture, design patterns, and operational best practices. Experience with service mesh technologies (e.g., Istio) is highly desirable.
Proven experience in designing and implementing observability strategies, including monitoring, logging, tracing, and alerting (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack, Datadog, New Relic).
Experience with advanced TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S, and complex networking concepts within cloud environments, including network security best practices.
Superior ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Proven ability to influence technical direction, lead discussions, and mentor team members effectively.
Highly Recommended: AWS, Kubernetes or similar Certifications.
Desirable: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or similar.
