Position Purpose
The HG Board Support Officer (BSO) will provide high‑quality assistance to the Directors and aid them in achieving the Company's purpose. The key areas in which this position will assist the Board are administration, governance, reporting, fundraising and public relations. This position reports to the Chair of the Board and undertakes the tasks set out by the Board and its sub‑committees.
Key responsibilities of the position
* This position supports the Board of Directors in assisting with the preparation and coordination of Board and sub‑committee materials and acts.
* Support the development of fundraising strategies and relationships.
* Ensures Board meetings have reliable records of decisions and monitors actions.
* Advises and supports the Board with all forms of compliance and governance, including governmental reporting.
* Is guided by the Board in developing and implementing public relation and campaign strategies to achieve the Board's outcomes.
* Supports the Board in developing all correspondence material necessary including media and campaign collateral to the general public and targeted stakeholders.
Desired Skills and Experience
Governance Expertise
Demonstrated experience and familiarity with corporate governance principles and compliance requirements and/or understanding of not‑for‑profit obligations (familiarity with Charities Act 2013 (Cth), Australian Charities and Not‑for‑Profit Commission Act 2013 (Cth), Corporations Act 2001 (Cth) etc.)
Communications and Public Relation Skills
Experience and skills in public relations for a not‑for‑profit organisation and private capital fundraising campaign.
Executive Coordination
Experience in supporting key stakeholders (i.e. Directors and Company Secretary etc.) in coordination and administration – including maintenance of registers, ASIC and ACNC lodgements, requests from regulators etc.)
Strong Administrative Skills
An eye for detail and experience in corporate administration.
Adaptability
Flexible and affable approach to support the needs of key stakeholders.
Initiative and Attitude
Having a can‑do approach, positive, and a team player working in partnership with the Directors and other associated individuals.
