A local Hostel is looking for a Cook or an Inspiring Kitchenhand to become a Cook.
Duties include preparing food and cooking for 70 residents.
The role primarily operates on weekends with potential to work additional days.
Applicants must have some kitchenhand or cooking experience, be willing to learn, reliable and enthusiastic.
The successful candidate will be required to obtain a Food Handling Certificate.
This is a First Nations Identified position.
What you’ll do:
- Prepare and cook meals for residents, with emphasis on bulk/large-scale meal preparation suitable for remote site environments or similar mass-catering settings.
- Work as part of a team to deliver high-quality culinary experiences and maintain resident wellbeing through food service.
What you’ll bring:
- Australian Citizenship or full Australian working rights.
- Trade Certificate or Certificate III in Commercial Cookery.
- Proven experience in mass-catering environments, including meals for breakfast, dinner, crib and pastries.
- HACCP expertise with strong leadership and organisational skills.
- A passion for delivering high-quality culinary experiences.

Position: Cook (All Cook roles including Commis and Demi Chef)
Location: Blue Mountains NSW 2785
Salary: $70,000 – $85,000 per year
Salter Brothers Hospitality Group is seeking experienced cooks to join its teams across luxury properties including Echoes Boutique Hotel and Restaurant, Hydro Majestic Hotel, Lilianfels Blue Mountains Resort & Spa, Parklands Country Gardens and Lodge, The Convent Hunter Valley, and Milton Park Country House Hotel & Spa.
Responsibilities, duties and requirements:
- Confidence in cooking abilities with creativity and high presentation standards.
- Ability to create dishes with consistency; skills in preparing different cuisines; high-volume, high-pressure environment experience.
- Understanding of food safety and OHS requirements.
- Train and manage junior cooks and kitchen staff; maintain safety, hygiene and food quality.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role and relevant commercial cookery qualifications.
