We are seeking a skilled and motivated Roof Carpenter to join JWH Group Pty Ltd, based in Geraldton, Mid-West Region, WA. The role involves the construction, installation, and completion of residential timber roof structures, wall framing, and external cladding systems. The ideal candidate is hardworking, reliable, committed to delivering high-quality workmanship, and open to continuous learning and professional development.
Responsibilities
* Read and interpret architectural, structural, and engineering drawings to determine materials and procedures.
* Set out and install prefabricated roof trusses.
* Construct conventional (stick) roof framing where required.
* Install bracing, tie‐downs, speed bracing, and structural fixings to engineer's specifications.
* Construct and install timber wall framing in accordance with approved plans and AS 1684.
* Install structural and non‐structural wall components, including lintels and bracing elements.
* Install external cladding systems, including fibre cement, weatherboard, and other approved materials.
* Install fascia, barge boards, and associated roof framing components.
* Erect, alter, and dismantle basic scaffold systems where licensed and competent to do so.
* Ensure scaffold and edge protection systems are safe, compliant, and fit for purpose.
* Coordinate with site supervisors, crane operators, and other trades.
* Identify and report defects, variations, or safety concerns.
* Maintain a clean, organised, and safe worksite.
Qualifications
* Relevant trade qualification AQF Certificate IV with at least one year of relevant experience, or at least three years of full‐time relevant experience in lieu of a formal qualification.
* Proficiency in carpentry techniques, including timber cutting, assembling, nailing, and construction methods, as well as interpreting plans and specifications and adhering to building codes and standards.
* In‐depth knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in the construction industry.
* Ability to identify on‐site challenges and develop practical solutions.
* Ability to contribute to site preparation and post‐work cleanup, maintaining a clean and organised work environment.
* Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to liaise effectively with team members, supervisors, and other stakeholders.
A salary of $77,000 - $92,000 will be offered to the successful candidate.
