About the Role

Corporate Affairs is seeking a proactive community practitioner with a strong working knowledge of social impact and community development, to support delivery of BHP's Community strategy in the Pilbara region.

In this role, you will be responsible for building and maintaining critical stakeholder relationships, delivering BHP's social investment program and supporting brand and reputation management in Newman.


Key Accountabilities

* Lead the timely administration and management of BHP's Community Grants Program, including liaising with local groups and not‑for‑profits, facilitating payments and acquittals;
* Facilitate and project manage a range of key social investment contracts;
* Participate in key community forums and engagements, and provide feedback to the Corporate Affairs and Asset teams on local issues and opportunities;
* Coordinate and attend key events and relevant opportunities to build the profile of BHP and local leadership within the community, including providing on‑the‑day support as required;
* Work with the Communications and Media teams to protect and enhance the BHP brand and community outcomes;
* Oversee the BHP community inbox and triage requests within approved timeframes;
* Promote and assist volunteer opportunities through the WA Volunteer portal;
* Coordinate and drive appropriate responses to a range of internal and external inquiries and issues.

This is a part‑time (0.8FTE) permanent position, offered as a Residential‑only role based in Newman.


About You

* You thrive in a highly dynamic environment, with the ability to work quickly and responsively to community needs;
* Ability to think innovatively about local challenges and develop creative solutions in consultation with local stakeholders;
* Strong written and verbal communication skills;
* Exceptional attention to detail;
* Ability to work through scopes independently and seek assistance across an established Corporate Affairs network;
* Comfortable engaging a wide variety of key stakeholders across different areas;
* Experience in community development or volunteer space or similar is preferred;
* Excellent organisational skills.
