Your role
The Senior Client Service Officer Specialist (SCSO-S) assists clients in complex situations who require support to access housing or sustain their current tenancy. The SCSO-S builds strong relationships with the service sector and works across a range of housing programs such as the Rent Choice Suite (Start Safely, Rent Choice Youth) and Assertive Outreach. Working within existing guidelines, policies and systems, the SCSO-S increases efficiency and delivers improved service outcomes.
The SCSO-S is required to provide mentorship and support to the client service teams, offering instruction, purpose and direction to Client Service Officers (CSO) and demonstrating leadership qualities. Collaborating with CSOs, Team Leaders and internal/external service providers, the SCSO-S develops innovative strategies to improve client outcomes, contributes to continual improvement in efficacy and adds to a positive and collegial culture.
SCSO-S roles include a mixture of field work to engage with clients in situ, office-based work and attending meetings at sector partner offices. The Assertive Outreach work involves engaging with rough sleepers in early morning outreach groups with sector partners. A SCSO-S must be proactive, adaptive, ethical and positive, with exceptional time-management and communication skills suitable for a fast-paced and varied role.
Assertive Outreach – Talent Pool Creation
In Assertive Outreach (AO) the SCSO-S works closely with case workers in the Specialist Homelessness Services (SHS) organisations to conduct early-morning patrols. Collaboration with nurses, mental health professionals, NDIS and drug and alcohol workers ensures clients receive long-term housing and tenancy retention support. The SCSO-S maintains detailed data sets to keep AO operations running smoothly, responds to rough sleeper flags and coordinates Temporary Accommodation (TA).
