An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Senior Food Technologist to join a well-established, Australian-owned food manufacturing business with a reputation for premium quality and innovation. They are currently growing extremely quickly, both organically and through acquisition. Due to this growth, they are looking for a technically strong and commercially minded professional who can drive new product development, improve existing formulations, and manage projects in collaboration with major national retailers. About the Opportunity Reporting into the Head of Innovation, you’ll be leading end-to-end development projects from concept through to launch; including ideation, formulation, factory trials, and post-launch optimisation. You'll work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver high-quality, customer-focused outcomes within chilled and ambient food categories. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage NPD and EPD projects for retail and private label products Develop and refine product formulations to meet sensory, cost, and compliance targets Partner with commercial teams to deliver on customer briefs and category strategies Conduct factory trials, first production runs, and troubleshoot process or quality challenges Maintain all product specifications, shelf-life testing, and technical documentation Ensure all developments meet food safety, regulatory, and labelling requirements Engage with suppliers to assess new ingredients and technical solutions Required Experience A relevant qualification in Food Science, Food Technology or a related discipline Minimum 7 years’ experience in a food manufacturing R&D or technical role Strong project management skills with a track record of delivering successful product launches Experience working with retail customers or private label products Excellent understanding of food safety, quality systems, and regulatory frameworks Hands-on, collaborative approach with a passion for innovation and continuous improvement Should this opportunity be of interest to you click on the APPLY button above or contact Hannah Bulmer at Blackbook Executive on (03) 9823 7408 if you would like to discuss further.
