About Us
Ngaanyatjarra Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (NPY) Women’s Council was founded and is still led, governed and directed by women from the NPY region. It was created to give a voice to women across 26 desert communities in the cross-border regions of Western Australia, South Australia and the Northern Territory. Today, we continue to provide progressive, innovative and evidence-based work in service delivery, advocacy and support.
At its core NPY Women’s Council is about family and community – walytja. Our purpose is to work with women, children and their families of the Ngaanyatjarra, Pitjantjatjara and Yankunytjatjara region in central Australia. Our role is to work side by side and help increase their capacity to lead safe and healthy lives with improved life choices.
About the Team
The Youth Services team works with young people aged 10–25 and their families across the NPY region. The team delivers a range of programs including case management, youth engagement activities, education and leadership initiatives, and advocacy.
You will be part of a diverse and passionate team, working alongside Team Leaders, Youth Development Officers, and Anangu Youth Workers. The team is committed to empowering young people, strengthening communities, and supporting culturally safe and meaningful outcomes for youth.
About the Role
As the Assistant Manager, you will work closely with the Youth Services Manager to lead, develop, and deliver youth programs across the NPY region.
This is a dynamic leadership role combining:
* Strategic planning
* Staff leadership and supervision
* Program coordination and delivery
You will oversee Team Leaders and a diverse workforce, including Youth Development Officers and Anangu Youth Workers, ensuring high-quality, culturally responsive services.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and support a multidisciplinary youth services team
* Supervise Team Leaders and staff across multiple locations
* Coordinate and oversee program delivery across the region
* Build strong relationships with communities, families, and stakeholders
* Support recruitment, training, and development of staff
* Contribute to strategic planning, reporting, and program improvement
* Advocate for better outcomes for Aboriginal youth
* Ensure compliance, reporting, and operational effectiveness
About You
You are an experienced and confident leader who is passionate about working with young people and communities.
You will bring:
* Extensive experience in team leadership and staff supervision
* Strong understanding of community development and youth services
* Experience working in cross-cultural environments, ideally with Aboriginal communities
* Ability to build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders
* Strong organisational, planning, and communication skills
* Experience in program delivery, reporting, and operational planning
* Willingness to travel to remote communities

Requirements
* Relevant tertiary qualification (Social Work, Community Development, or similar)
* Current driver’s licence (or willingness to obtain)

* Willingness to travel and work in remote communities
