Djinjama is a small and growing Indigenous owned and operated business providing cultural design and research for projects in the built environment. Our clients include government, architects and designers, and related industry organisations. Our team are primarily Indigenous.
We are a small, busy team and a flat organisational structure so your work would be impactful in every project.
We share a small studio in Surry Hills with flexibility to work flexibly from home.
We are a culturally safe organisation, and the role requires excellent cultural comprehension and capacity.
Djinjama is inviting expressions of interest from a Creative Researcher to join us. Our projects are largely in creative spaces such as architecture, planning, and design, but also policy and advocacy. Ideally you would have experience in creative research and be First Nations, or have substantial experience with First Nations communities and the challenges and aspirations that concern them.
The position needs someone who is bright, organised, with great communication skills who is willing to jump in and be part of a busy practice.
There is flexibility in the role, you could be part-time. You may be returning to work or study, or an Elder with research experience. You may need to work at home or irregular hours. Contact us with your circumstances, we would love to hear from you.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Undertake research into creative, built environment and design related topics
- Engage with key Knowledge Holders to inform the research
- Participate in or lead yarns or workshops with community
- Develop themes and narratives based on engagement
- Carry out studies on projects and research on sites
- Undertake writing and research relating to projects
- Prepare reports and presentations
- Develop academic level writing and research
**Skills & Experience**
- Experience in a similar role preferred
- Outstanding verbal and written communication, and collaboration skills
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail and able to meet deadlines
- Proactive, enthusiastic, and good initiative
- Tech savvy or willing to learn
- Culturally competent and capable
