We enable young people to engage in education in a supported learning environment through a methodology based on trauma informed practice, in which the principles of operation (Honesty, Respect, Participation, Safe & Legal) are embedded.ABOUT THE ROLE:The Lead Youth Worker reports to the Area Principal or delegate. The Lead Youth Worker leads the youth worker team and supports:Effective learning and teaching programs for young people in both middle and senior phases of secondary education.Physical health and emotional wellbeing of the young people.Development and implementation of the schools’ strategic and operational plans regarding the function of your role as youth worker.Maintenance of a supportive and inclusive school environment.Relationships with the school, staff, students and their families, industry, and community organisations in relation to planning, actions and achieving outcomes with a particular focus on your area of expertise.Young people to engage with relevant external agencies through appropriate referral pathways and stakeholder meetings.The school with highly developed specialist, professional technical and or management knowledge.PleaseCLICK HEREto read the full position description.ABOUT YOU:A Working with Children Clearance NoticeCurrent driver’s licence (essential) or Light Rigid license (highly desirable)Previous experience in the youth sector with knowledge and understanding of the local First Nations communitiesIn-depth experience in working in EREA Flexible Schools as a Youth Worker and experience in leading programs within EREA Flexible Schools (i.e Electives, Outings, School Events, Practice Meetings)Highly DesirableAn understanding of and commitment to principles of social justiceUnderstanding of current youth work practice, trends and issues in service provision to marginalised young people particularly within the alternate education sectorSound level of verbal and written communication skills, including participating in meeting processes, report writing and negotiation skillsSkills in computing (especially word processing, Internet) and skills, or the ability to develop skills in database.Proven ability to work autonomously and in an integrated manner as a member of a multi-disciplinary teamQualifications at Degree, Diploma or Certificate level with Social Work/Youth Work experience (or working towards a qualification) or equivalent life experienceWHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU:Salary sacrificing benefits, including FBT exempt payments of up to $15,900 p/aSmall group sizes with a flexible approach to learning12.75% Superannuation contributiInduction, Wellbeing and Professional Development OpportunitiesHOW TO APPLY: (Please upload documents in PDF format)To apply for a position, please complete the application form below.
