About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to lead permitting and planning activities for a growing pipeline of renewable generation and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects across Australia's East Coast. This role will play a critical part in securing approvals, navigating regulatory frameworks, and ensuring smooth project progression from feasibility through to construction.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage planning approvals, permitting applications, and environmental assessments for large-scale renewable and BESS projects.
* Liaise with government agencies, network operators, local councils, and regulators to secure timely approvals.
* Oversee environmental and technical consultants, ensuring high-quality deliverables aligned with project schedules and compliance obligations.
* Provide strategic advice to development teams on land-use planning, regulatory pathways, and risk management.
* Support stakeholder engagement activities with communities, landowners, and other key parties.
* Ensure compliance with all relevant planning, environmental, and energy market regulations.
* Contribute to project design and site selection processes with a focus on permitting feasibility.
About you:
* Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Planning, or a related discipline.
* 5+ years' experience in permitting, approvals, or planning within the renewable energy, infrastructure, or utilities sector.
* Strong knowledge of Australian planning frameworks, environmental legislation, and permitting processes (state and federal).
* Demonstrated track record of securing approvals for utility-scale renewable energy and/or BESS projects.
* Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate with regulators and communities.
* Strong project management capabilities and attention to detail.
