Fire Policy and Legislation Specialist
This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in shaping the direction of fire policy and legislation. As a Fire Policy and Legislation Specialist, you will play a critical role in driving reform and continuous improvement within the Bushfire and Forest Services Group.
Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, this position provides expert advice on emerging issues and opportunities, and designs creative solutions to complex problems. This leadership role involves building a positive, collaborative, and engaged culture, and coaching and mentoring staff to perform at their best.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of fire management in Victoria and experience in designing and implementing strategic, legislative, or regulatory policy reform. A tertiary qualification in public policy, law, social science, emergency management, or environmental management is also highly valued.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing guidance on policy development, reviewing and analyzing existing policies, and identifying areas for improvement. They will also work closely with other teams to implement policy changes and ensure a smooth transition.
This is an ongoing position with hybrid work arrangements available. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team, and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
