Job Title
Research Assistant - Community Development Project
This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about community development and has a strong interest in research. The successful candidate will be working closely with the Community Engagement Facilitator to support a collaborative research project examining the changing state of food insecurity in Eastern Nova Scotia.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Arrange and facilitate focus groups across the Eastern Health Zone to gather valuable insights on food insecurity
* Take detailed notes and produce accurate transcripts of each focus group session using automated transcription software
* Codify and analyze collected data to identify trends and patterns
* Participate in regular working group meetings to share findings and collaborate on project deliverables
Required Skills and Qualifications
* Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in the social sciences
* Current and up-to-date Criminal Records Check
* Valid Nova Scotia Driver's License, access to reliable transportation considered an asset
* Compassion and empathy
* Experience working with vulnerable populations

The research project aims to examine the changing state of food insecurity in Eastern Nova Scotia, identifying trends, challenges, and opportunities in the work of community food assistance programs.
