With an enrolment of approximately 1,100 students, the College is set in an attractive bushland environment in Newborough. As the only secondary school in the Moe¿Newborough community, Lowanna draws students from both the local area and surrounding rural townships. Located around 130 kilometres east of Melbourne, Newborough lies in the heart of picturesque Gippsland. The region is surrounded by rolling hills and offers easy access to the snowfields of Mt Baw Baw and the South Gippsland coastline. A wide range of recreational and sporting opportunities are available locally, including football, netball, golf, basketball, soccer, mountain biking and water sports. Role The Assistant Principal at Lowanna College plays a critical leadership role in supporting the Principal to provide high-quality educational outcomes for all students. This role involves strategic leadership, operational management, and the development of a positive school culture that supports staff, students, and the wider school community. In addition to the core responsibilities of the Assistant Principal role, and in negotiation with the successful applicant, the position will include significant leadership portfolios in the following areas: - Oversight of a Mini-School: Responsibility for either the Junior, Middle, or Senior School, including student engagement, wellbeing, pathways, and achievement. - Positive Climate for Learning: Leading the development and implementation of whole school approaches to Positive Climate for Learning, including School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) and Positive Classroom Management Strategies (PCMS). - Student Engagement, Attendance, Wellbeing, and Achievement: Driving continuous improvement in these areas, ensuring that all students are supported to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. - Professional Learning: Planning, delivering, and evaluating high-quality professional learning for all staff that is aligned to the Annual Implementation Plan (AIP) goals and priorities. - Teaching and Learning: Supporting the Assistant Principal of Teaching and Learning through the consistent implementation of the College¿s Explicit Teaching model, fostering instructional excellence across all learning areas.
