Maranoa locality allowance $72.00 per fortnight

About The Position
To coordinate the safe, efficient, and customer-focused operation of Council's diverse facilities portfolio - including buildings, bookable community spaces (such as ovals, showgrounds, and halls), and corporate offices. The role ensures these assets are welcoming, functional, compliant, and well managed. The Coordinator leads the operational team responsible for day-to-day facility services, preventative and reactive maintenance delivery, facility bookings, caretaking, cleaning, utilities management, and contractor oversight.
The Coordinator Facility Operations provides the organisation with a clear point of accountability for the operational management of Council facilities, working closely with the Coordinator Property & Tenure Services and the Coordinator Facilities Planning & Projects to deliver an integrated, whole-of-life approach to facilities management.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
Provide leadership, supervision, and mentoring to facilities staff and caretakers across Council sites and community spaces.
Develop team work plans and ensure delivery of high-quality, customer-focused services.
Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and professionalism in facility operations.
Facility Operations & Service Delivery
Manage the day-to-day operations of Council facilities and community spaces.
Oversee facility bookings, access arrangements, and customer enquiries.
Coordinate caretaker services and ensure responsive support for events and community use.
Act as a central point of contact for minor renovations, furniture requests, and small-scale facility improvements.
Establish and implement operational policies, procedures, and service standards for bookings, cleaning, and caretaking services.
Maintenance Delivery
Deliver the Planned and Scheduled Maintenance Program in partnership with the Coordinator Facilities Planning & Projects.
Coordinate contractors and staff to undertake preventative maintenance, compliance testing, and statutory inspections (including fire safety, asbestos, pool safety, pest control, and RCD testing).
Oversee minor maintenance works to maintain safety, amenity, and compliance.
Monitor maintenance outcomes and escalate risks or significant issues as required.
Coordinate the biennial external audit of regional swimming pools in line with RLSSA Guidelines for Safe Pool Operations.
Financial Management & Reporting
Manage operational budgets, including utilities, cleaning, caretakers, security, and consumables.
Monitor expenditure, identify efficiencies, and ensure services are delivered within approved budgets.
Support procurement processes through scope development, contractor evaluation, and compliance with procurement policies.
Provide accurate reporting and data to support corporate decision-making.
Risk, Safety & Compliance
Ensure all facilities comply with relevant statutory, safety, and environmental requirements.
Maintain compliance registers, including asbestos management, contractor certifications, and safety inspections.
Lead corrective actions to address identified risks.
Maintain administration of Council's insurance portfolio, including public liability and property claims, and liaise with customers and insurers.
Stakeholder Engagement & Continuous Improvement
Engage with community groups, tenants, lessees, staff, and service providers to ensure facilities meet user needs.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align operations with property, tenure, and long-term planning objectives.
Review and improve facility operations processes, adopting innovation and technology where appropriate.
Benchmark services against industry standards and implement improvements to achieve best value outcomes.
