FVS Airconditioning and Electrical is a well-established and respected local business delivering electrical, airconditioning, refrigeration, fire, and sheetmetal services across residential, commercial, government, and industrial sectors.
We are seeking an Operations-focused Assistant Manager to support the day-to-day running of our Mount Isa branch. This role has a clear and genuine pathway to Branch Manager, following a structured training and handover period.
This position is ideal for someone with strong organisational, administrative, and people skills who enjoys making a business run smoothly. Trade experience is not essential — we already have experienced supervisors managing technical delivery. This role exists to support them and remove operational and administrative bottlenecks so the business can grow naturally.

About the Role
As Assistant Manager, you will work closely with the Branch Manager and supervisors to coordinate people, processes, and priorities across the business. You will focus on operations, administration, planning, and communication, allowing supervisors to focus on technical leadership and field delivery.
Over several months, you will be trained in all aspects of branch operations and gradually take on greater responsibility. Once capability is demonstrated, the role will progress to Branch Manager.
Successful candidates can expect progression to Branch Manager within 6-12 months based on demonstrated performance and capability.

Key Responsibilities
Operations & Administration
* Support daily branch operations and workflow coordination
* Assist with scheduling, resourcing, and forward work planning
* Help maintain smooth communication between supervisors, admin staff, and management
* Monitor job progress, paperwork, and follow-ups
* Support invoicing, variations, and job close-out processes
* Assist with reporting, tracking KPIs, and identifying improvement opportunities
People & Team Support
* Work collaboratively with experienced trade supervisors
* Help maintain structure, consistency, and accountability across teams
* Support onboarding, training coordination, and staff engagement
* Assist with performance discussions and workload management
* Help reinforce a positive, professional, and safety-focused culture
Business Support & Growth
* Support financial oversight including job costs and margins (with guidance)
* Assist with forecasting, planning, and workload balancing
* Help improve systems, processes, and efficiencies
* Act as a key point of support as the business grows and workload increases

About You
This role suits someone who is operations-minded, organised, and comfortable working with people at all levels of the business.
You do not need a trade background, but you must be confident working alongside experienced trade supervisors and supporting them effectively.
