Indigeco is partnering with a diversified industrial group based in Kurri Kurri to appoint a highly skilled Group Financial Controller.

ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing financial operations, ensuring compliance, and driving business performance. You'll lead a finance team in delivering timely reporting, robust governance, and high-quality insights to support executive decision-making. WHAT YOU WILL DO
* Manage the full month-end close process across the group, ensuring all reconciliations, journals, and adjustments are delivered on time and in line with reporting deadlines.
* Lead the preparation of consolidated financial statements, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, in compliance with Australian Accounting Standards and regulatory requirements.
* Oversee all statutory compliance obligations (BAS, PAYG, FBT, income tax, payroll tax, workers compensation, and insurance renewals) to ensure the group remains audit-ready at all times.
* Deliver clear and insightful monthly board packs, including financial results, variance analysis, and commentary that inform executive and board-level decisions.
* Monitor and manage cash flow, provide accurate forecasts, and drive working capital optimisation to support sustainable business growth.
* Direct the financial planning and analysis (FP&A) process, including annual budgets, rolling forecasts, divisional performance reviews, and variance analysis.
* Supervise the preparation and release of weekly payrolls (salary and award-based), ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness.
* Partner with senior leaders and operations teams to develop financial models for investment evaluations, scenario planning, and strategic decision-making.
* Lead and coordinate internal and external audits, managing auditor relationships and ensuring corrective actions and reporting obligations are delivered.
* Implement improvements to finance systems and reporting tools, streamlining processes and driving greater transparency and efficiency.
* Maintain and enhance internal controls, governance frameworks, and risk management processes across the finance function.
* Provide guidance and mentorship to the finance team, embedding a culture of accountability, collaboration, and professional growth.
* Support major finance transformation projects, including ERP implementations, integrations, and business improvement initiatives.
* Work closely with cross-functional teams (HR, Operations, Legal) to ensure alignment of financial strategy with broader business objectives.
WHAT YOU NEED
* Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Commerce with CA/CPA/ACA qualifications.
* 8–10+ years of finance and accounting experience, including 5+ years in a senior leadership role.
* Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards (IFRS/GAAP), tax compliance, and governance.
* Proven ability to lead FP&A, drive forecasting accuracy, and deliver meaningful insights to executives and boards.
* Skilled in ERP and finance systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar) with experience in process improvement and system transformation.
* Exceptional leadership and team management skills with a track record of mentoring and developing finance professionals.
* Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the confidence to present at executive and board level.
