**LOCATION - BRISBANE (Specifically Yatala)**

**2 YEAR FIXED TERM CONTRACT**

**HSE ADVISOR - CONSTRUCTION**

**YOUR ROLE**

The fundamental purpose of the position is to drive the operational delivery of the HSE Management Plan for a major project so that identified HSE outcomes are met and to provide timely and expert advice and support to the HSE and Project/ Construction Managers. Responsible for the project HSE documentation, resources and activities. Supporting Corporate HSE Objectives including site implementation of Corporate Programmes.
- Maintaining legal compliance
- Driving continuous improvements in leading and lagging metric performance

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Collaborate with the HSE Manager and key stakeholders in developing, issuing, reviewing and maintaining the project Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (HSE) Management Plan and related process/procedure documents.
- Implement project HSE plans and enforces safe systems of work on the Project site.
- Advises and assists the Project Team in all HSE-related matters
- Conducts risk assessment specific to activities performed on the project
- Maintains Project-related HSE documentation and performance data up to date.
- Review contractor Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), Job Safety and Environmental Analysis (JSEA) and related documents and processes, as submitted by the contractors. Provide feedback to the contractors on developing these documents as required so that they meet business standards
- Enforces Permit to Work procedures
- Ensures that all Corrective Action Requests raised on his site are addressed in a timely manner
- Draw up and implement Project Emergency Plans.
- Schedules communicate, and direct emergency drills at the Project site
- Carry out toolbox meetings

**KEY REQUIREMENTS**
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in HSE-related positions in a Heavy Industry / Construction environment.
- Experience in greenfield and brownfield start ups/shutdowns
- Higher Technical/ vocational qualification in HSE
- Car License
- Degree/Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Environment or related discipline
- Incident Investigation and Root Cause Analysis training and experience
- Auditing Qualification
- First Aid

**CORE COMPETENCIES**
- Ability to prepare HSE reports
- Knowledge and experience in conducting risk assessments
- Knowledge and experience in conducting safety audits and emergency drills
- Practical knowledge & experience in High-Risk construction environments
- Familiarity with safe systems of work and Permit-to-Work systems
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
- Strong problem-solver
- Ability to influence others and challenge the status quo or decisions that may compromise HSE
- Strong and flexible interpersonal communication skills
- Good planning, organizational and presentation skills.
