About the Role

Due to sustained growth, Parabellum is seeking expressions of interest for a Director/ Principal DFIR Analyst to spearhead and scale our Digital Forensics & Incident Response capability. This is a unique opportunity to take ownership of a critical practice area, shape its direction, and lead a high-performing team of specialists. You will play a pivotal role in building and growing the practice, forging strong client partnerships, and ensuring technical and operational excellence across all engagements.

Responsibilities

- Lead the delivery of major DFIR engagements across sectors including enterprise, critical infrastructure, and government.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities, while nurturing existing client relationships.
- Recruit, mentor, and retain a team of talented DFIR professionals, fostering a culture of technical excellence and collaboration.
- Drive practice innovation through continuous uplift of tools, methodologies, and procedures.
- Oversee incident response operations, ensuring rapid containment, eradication, and recovery for clients under pressure.
- Provide strategic advice to boards, executives, and technical stakeholders, distilling complex threats into clear business impacts and response strategies.
- Represent Parabellum in industry forums, law enforcement and legal contexts, and with insurance partners where required.
- Contribute to thought leadership and research, positioning Parabellum as a trusted leader in the DFIR domain.

Qualifications & Experience

- Minimum 5+ years’ experience in cybersecurity, with at least 3 years in DFIR (leading engagements and/or practices).
- Proven ability to lead and scale a security practice, including business development, client management, and technical oversight.
- Deep expertise in:
- Digital forensics (host, network, and cloud environments)
- Malware analysis and reverse engineering
- Strong understanding of complex enterprise and OT environments.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively at all levels – from technical detail to executive briefings.
- People leadership experience – recruiting, developing, and inspiring high-performing teams.
- Recognised industry certifications are highly desirable (e.g. GIAC GCFA, GCFE, GREM, GNFA, GCTI, CISSP, CISM).
- Must pass a criminal history check.
- Australian/ NZ permanent residency or citizenship required.

Nice-to-Haves

- NV1 Security Clearance or higher.
- Experience liaising with law enforcement, regulators, legal counsel, and insurers.
- Exposure to security architecture, engineering, or threat hunting disciplines.
- Strong technical research background with contributions to open-source tools, publications, or CVEs.
- Pre-sales or consulting experience in complex client engagements.
- Flexibility to work anywhere in Australia.
