This is a Recruitment Pool for Permanent Full Time, Permanent Part Time, Fixed Term Full Time, or Fixed Term Part Time appointments with the possibility of extension(s) and/or permanency.

We currently have one Permanent Full Time position available for appointment.

About the Position

We are seeking experienced Clinical Nurse to join our dedicated nursing team within the Medical Imaging Department at Perth Children’s Hospital (PCH). This rewarding role offers the opportunity to provide advanced clinical and professional expertise, ensuring safe, high-quality, and compassionate care for patients undergoing medical imaging and interventional procedures.

As part of a multidisciplinary team of radiologists, allied health professionals, and nurses, you will deliver and coordinate evidence-based care for a wide range of medical imaging procedures across inpatient, outpatient, and emergency settings including diverse specialty areas such as interventional radiology, cardiac catheterisation, interventional neuroradiology, diagnostic radiology, MRI, CT, and nuclear medicine.

You will also work closely with clinicians from other services such as gastroenterology, speech pathology, anaesthetics, and other specialties to prepare equipment, coordinate holistic patient care, troubleshoot challenges, and ensure seamless service delivery.

Your adaptability, strong clinical knowledge, and ability to work autonomously will be key to providing excellence in patient care - providing reassurance and support to children and families at every stage of their journey, and across the complexity and diversity of our department.

Beyond clinical practice, this role provides scope to contribute to innovative practice, clinical leadership, and quality improvement.

Key responsibilities include:

* Setting the standard of care by modelling best practice, guiding and supporting colleagues, and contributing your clinical expertise to decision-making in complex cases, always prioritising patient safety, dignity, and comfort.
* Providing operational leadership, including supervising nursing staff, planning and overseeing theatre lists, and mentoring junior staff and students to promote professional growth and development.
* Screening and preparing patients and families for procedures, explaining processes and outcomes clearly to set realistic expectations, determine goals and manage potential complications.
* Acting as a state-wide resource in Paediatric Medical Imaging, providing education and support to other healthcare facilities.
* Participating in audit, quality improvement initiatives and engaging in professional development, and clinical research activities, driving evidence-based practice and continuous improvement.
* Advocating for patient needs and providing post-care education and discharge planning and advice to support confidence and understanding.

At CAHS we help children grow and thrive, and we offer the same opportunity to nurses who join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a specialist team making a real difference for children and their families and develop your leadership skills in a supportive environment that values innovation, research, and evidence-based practice.

Requirements

* Eligible for registration in the category of Registered Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA).
* It is preferred that applicants have a minimum of four years’ experience in a similar role with experience in one or more areas including: interventional radiology, cardiac cath, interventional neuro, basic interventional radiology and diagnostic radiology.
* A willingness to learn and embrace the unique challenges and rewards of paediatric nursing.
* A collaborative leader who is compassionate and strives for excellence.

About the Team

Based at Perth Children’s Hospital, the Medical Imaging Department provides services for children from birth to 16 years, supporting inpatients, outpatients, and the Emergency Department.

Our services include a comprehensive range of diagnostic imaging and specialised procedures such as interventional radiology, neuroradiology, paediatric cardiac catheterisation, vascular access, awake procedures, and routine medical imaging including X-ray and CT. We also perform fluoroscopy, CT bronchoscopy, biopsies, cannulation, and drain insertions.

With state-of-the-art equipment designed specifically for infants and children, we deliver care in an environment that helps patients and their families feel safe and supported. Our focus is on achieving the highest quality imaging outcomes while ensuring a compassionate, child-friendly experience.
