Joinery workshop lead — Retail + Residential builds
Fixture Lab I South Melbourne | Full-time | Hands‑on, creative and never boring
About Us
Fixture Lab builds the fixtures, furniture and prototypes you see in major retail stores — and we also create high‑end residential joinery. We work fast, we solve problems and we build cool things that actually get used in the real world. We're growing quickly and need someone who knows their way around a workshop, takes pride in quality and can turn drawings into reality — without the chaos.
The Role
This isn't a factory line job — it's varied, technical and hands‑on. One day you'll be programming the CNC and cutting precision parts; the next you'll be assembling a prototype, testing a fixture or preparing materials for a rollout. You'll run the workshop: the tools, the equipment, the workflow and the stock. You'll work closely with our Labs (documentation, product and contract teams) to make sure every build is accurate, efficient and done right the first time. If you love building, solving, improving and seeing your work go from idea to installation — you'll love this role.
Experience We're Looking For
* Joinery, shopfitting, cabinetry or fabrication experience
* Confident CNC programming and operating capability
* Ability to read and interpret detailed drawings
* Ability to provide retail and residential solutions from briefs
* Hands‑on experience building fixtures, prototypes or custom joinery
* Strong organisation and ability to manage multiple jobs
* Clear communicator who enjoys working with different teams
* Pride in workmanship, accuracy and efficiency
Experience working on retail fixtures or fast‑paced project environments is highly valued.
Why You'll Love Working Here
* No repetitive assembly lines — every build is different
* Your work ends up in real stores and real homes
* You'll be trusted to lead, not micromanaged
* You'll get to problem‑solve, refine processes and prototype
* Your ideas will be heard — and actually used
* We care about quality and capability — not hierarchy or ego.
