Your opportunity

Are you passionate about making a meaningful difference in people’s lives?

Mission Australia is looking for a Support Worker – Tenancy Support to join our team and help individuals and families at risk of homelessness build stability and confidence.

In this role, you’ll provide hands-on, participant-centered support, helping people maintain their homes, develop essential life skills, and connect with the services they need to thrive. You’ll work closely with Case Managers and a dedicated team, guided by trauma-informed, strengths-based, and culturally responsive practices that ensure every interaction is respectful and empowering.

Every day, you’ll be creating opportunities for positive change, and seeing the impact firsthand.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

- Provide day-to-day, participant-centered support to individuals and families at risk of homelessness, assisting with practical needs and engagement in the program.
- Support the implementation of case plans developed by Case Managers, helping participants build life skills and maintain their tenancy.
- Assist with initial intake, registration, and induction of participants into the service, completing all necessary documentation.
- Deliver or support basic group work and life skills coaching under supervision.
- Undertake administrative tasks, ensuring accurate completion of participant records and compliance with Mission Australia protocols.
- Contribute to the smooth functioning and development of the program through team collaboration, training, and participation in continuous quality improvement activities.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with participants, internal staff, and external stakeholders to enhance service delivery and participant outcomes.

Requirements for success

- Relevant qualification/certificate/ proven experience working in a related field that is acceptable to Mission Australia.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while maintaining professional boundaries.
- Demonstrated ability to provide basic day-to-day functional support to participants.
- Solid ability to learn new processes quickly and adapt to changing needs.
- Basic written and verbal communication skills, including proficiency with technology and administrative tasks.
- A positive, person-centered approach with a belief in participants’ capacity to grow and self-right.
- Respect for and knowledge of Central Australian First Nations culture and ways of being
- Hold current first aid & CPR certification and a valid driver’s license.

Before starting work with us, you will need to undertake a national police history check, qualifications, and referee checks, and have a clearance to work with children/vulnerable people.
